Arlo is a 4 year old Mustang out of High Rock Ca. He is a very sweet and loving
boy and loves taking naps and cuddling! He was caught out of the wild in
December of 2021, and competed in the Sacramento TIP Challenge in June of
2022! He has been trained to ride for over a year now and has experience
trailering to new places, and working with cows!

Buttercup is a 19 year old Quarter Horse mare. She has been on the ranch since
2015 and is easily recognizable for her pretty blue eyes! Buttercup has
developed slight arthritis in her front legs, so she is taking it easy packing kids
around in the arena.

Captain is the biggest horse on the Ranch! He is a 16 year old Percheron, one of
the largest horse breeds originating in France and known for their intelligence
and willingness to work. Captain is one of our most surefooted trail horses and
we use him almost every day!

Carlton is a 15 year old Quarter Horse, sorrel paint. He has been here for almost
10 years! He is still a little bit nervous around new people and is a bit shifty, but
once you get to know him he would run through a burning building for you!

China is R barn mascot! She is a pinto mini horse, and she's been here since
2009! You will often see her wandering around the barn and on the big lawn
during the day!

Cowboy is one of our most popular horses here at R Ranch! He is 18 years old
and has been here since 2013! Cowboy loves meeting new people and taking
them out on trail rides. He loves his job here at R Ranch and has never had a
bad hair day!

Dakota is a 17 year old red paint mare! She is very well behaved in the arena
and on trail rides. Dakota is mostly used as a kids horse but can be ridden by
adults too!

Delilah is a 20 year old black Percheron Quarter Horse cross. She is one of the
sweetest and most gentle horses we have here on the ranch! Delilah will take
trails nice and easy for new riders and help people gain confidence! Delilah is
one our most consistent trail horses and despite her big size she is quite the
gentle giant!

Fireball is a 17 year old sorrel Quarter Horse! He is a very well trained horse and
used to work with cows and compete in team roping events! Now that he leads a
quiet life here at the ranch, he is often used for riders of any skill level or age in
the arena, and out on the trails. Fireball is a big component of helping the
wranglers train R new horses, by ponying them on trails and getting them used to
new riders!

Gauge is a 8 year old Quarter Pony, and is one of the newer horses here at the
R-Ranch. He is a very sweet and curious horse and will always nose around your
pockets for treats! Gauge is still a little nervous when he has a saddle on his back
but is making a lot of quick progress! He is perfect when on the ground, and has
a great foundation to be a good kids horse!

Gito is our oldest horse here at R-Ranch at 32 years old! He has been on the
property since 2002, and was initially a ranch horse. In his younger years he was
a little too energetic to be a trail horse so he was sold to an owner in the early
2000’s. Gito has become a ranch horse again, and despite his age is still going
strong!

Hercules is a 21 year old Quarter Horse cross. He has only been on the ranch for
about a year but he is already doing very well here as a trail horse! Hercules was
trained as a Spanish Dancing Horse and still knows all his tricks!

Jack is a very sweet 14 year old grey Quarter Horse Cross! He use to be used as
a jumping horse for many years until an injury to his front leg. The injury no
longer affects him at all but jumping is a difficult and strenuous sport, so he is
now used as a trail horse! Jack is very well trained in English disciplines, reining,
cow work, and trail competitions. Despite his tiny size and impressive training he
can still be a spicy ride, so he needs a confident rider to guide him.

Java is a 18 year old Quarter horse, and is easy to spot for her unique Palomino
Roan coloring! She is pretty grumpy around other horses but does very well with
adult riders. Java has got a lot of go in her and will do just about anything you ask
of her, as long as it doesn't involve going close to the other horses!

Liberty is a 20 year old racing bred Quarter Horse! She wasn't quite fast enough
to pursue a career in racing so she ended up at the Ranch. Liberty was trained

for trick riding and did a fantastic job! She has been at the ranch for many years
but is now retired due to a neurologic condition that makes her a risk for seizures.

Maddie is a 10 year old pony we got as a rescue from Texas in 2021. She is a
little bit nervous but still loves getting treats! Maddie is quite easy to recognize
when she walks around in the pasture, because she doesn't really bend her back
legs at all while walking. Maddie has Fibrotic Myopathy, a condition that causes
scar tissue to form in the muscles after an injury, overuse, or genetic conditions.
The scar tissue does not behave the same as muscle fibers, most notably it's
inelastic and doesn't stretch. The condition does not affect her at all and almost
all horses with Fibrotic Myopathy live pain free lives. Maddie is living the good life
getting to run around in the pasture and get all the treats she could want.

Marcel is a 24 year old sorrel gelding. Marcel is one of our best arena horses and
he loves kids. Marcel is more patient with kids than adults. He is a very sweet
horse that has been with the R Ranch for many years.

Mater is one of R training horses! He is a 12 year old sorrel with a big white
blaze, with a hook at the top. He had an injury earlier last year that caused him to
be put on a rest from training, but now that he is fully healed he is making loads
of progress!

Molly is a 14 year old Quarter Horse. She has been a ranch horse since 2015,
but was on the property even before then. Molly was undergoing training to be a
reining horse prior to her becoming a member of the R-Ranch herd!

Oso is a 21 year old Thoroughbred horse. He used to be a racing horse and a
dressage horse prior to living here on the ranch. Oso only competed in one race
under the name of Clever Coxswain when he was 3 years old, winning almost
$5,000!

Parrandero is a 13 year old sorrel Quarter Horse. He came to the ranch with
Hercules and they are both trained as Spanish Dancing horses. Parrandero’s
name, means “Party Animal” in spanish! Parrandero cannot be ridden due to
severe arthritis in both of his front legs, he gets medication every morning to
manage the pain and keep him comfortable. You will often see him wandering
around the property during the day with China! Getting him out and letting him
stretch his legs helps to keep him comfortable, and he is a naturally curious
horse that loves hanging out at the boat yard!

Peppy is one of our most well used horses here at the Ranch! He was purchased
in 2013, along with another one of R favorites Cowboy! He was used as a barrel
racing horse prior to coming here at the ranch! He can be a little grumpy when
other horses get behind him, but he is a solid horse that will happily pack around
kids and adults!

Pilot is a 22 year old Thoroughbred Cross, and is hands down our most popular
kids horse! Prior to becoming a ranch horse he was used as a polo horse! He
used to have some bad habits and was a pretty nervous guy, but now that he has
adjusted to the R-Ranch lifestyle he is one of our most trusted horses!

Rowdy is a 7 year old Quarter horse that came to the Ranch last year with 6
other horses! While he didnt have any training before coming to the ranch, he
has progressed so much! Rowdy was given his name for his wild attitude the first
couple weeks on the ranch, but now he is the sweetest horse you've ever met.
He is often seen leading trail rides or just tagging along in the back.

Siete is a 27 year old Appendix (a Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse cross), and is
actually Marcel's brother! They are somewhat hard to tell apart, not just by their
appearance, but also their matching calm and gentle attitudes. Siete is now
retired due to his stiffening joints at his old age, but has served the ranch very
well for many years and still gets all the treats and attention he could want.

Smokey is a 14 year old Flea Bitten Grey. He is used in a majority of our arena
rides for the kids and does a great job! He has mild arthritis in his front legs that
is easily managed with pain medication. Smokey is an arena only horse to try
and slow the progression of his arthritis and keep him comfortable.

Theo is an 11 year old horse that came in with Rowdy, Troubadour, and Woody!
He had minimal training before coming to the R-Ranch and is a bit stubborn due
to his age. Theo does very well when the wranglers ride him in the arena and
pony him along on trail rides. He definitely has some prior trauma that we are still
working through, but with plenty of treats and gentle words he is making steady
progress!

Troubadour is a 3 year old sorrel Quarter Horse. He is easy to recognize from the
rest of R red horses for the perfect white diamond on his forehead. Troubadour is
making a lot of progress in his training because he is still young enough that he is
a very fast learner!
